The House of Representatives of the Parliament of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has voted to ban the construction of small hydropower plants across the Federation, in a huge win for communities who depend on the rivers.

Yesterday's decision follows a lengthy campaign by local communities and activists from the national Coalition for the Protection of Rivers.

New report shows nature-friendly agriculture is necessary and possible, but farmers need support for the transition

Insects are in decline across the world because of industrial farming and heavy pesticide use which are threatening food production, according to the Insect Atlas released today by Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung and Friends of the Earth Europe.

One in four mammals and one in eight birds are now threatened with extinction, as forests and other irreplaceable habitats are degraded and destroyed. Three species become extinct every hour.

Friends of the Earth Europe campaigns to end this alarming decline in species worldwide. Biodiversity forms the basis of existence for future generations. We aim to put this message at the heart of ongoing European debates, and support our national and local groups to preserve biodiversity on the ground.
